Plastic end breaks too easily. Works fairly well but too fragile for my golfing.

This is my third retriever and all three have broken the plastic end off. It is riveted on but the thin plastic rod that goes into the last stage has broken every time. After the first 2 I tried being extra gentle but at full extension it is just too easy to apply enough torque to break the plastic. It seems worst at cold temperatures (very cold water). I have searched for a replacement but so far no luck...just throw the whole thing away. A better design would save a lot of waste.
